About 1845
Our Story, Crafted the 1845 Way
At 1845 Barndominiums, we believe a home should feel personal—rooted in craftsmanship, shaped by your lifestyle, and built to last for generations. Our team walks with you every step of the way, making the process feel clear, collaborative, and completely centered around your vision.
Our story began in Hallsville, Texas in 1997, originally as MBM Metal, focusing on commercial and residential construction.
In 2020, owner Cody Holloway carried forward that legacy of craftsmanship and reintroduced the company as 1845 Barndominiums—shifting our focus toward the work we’re most passionate about: creating custom barndominiums that truly feel like home.
While MBM Metal continues to serve the commercial side, 1845 Barndominiums has expanded into new regions across North Carolina, allowing us to bring our builds to more families than ever. Today, we proudly construct barndominiums throughout these areas and ship our custom kits nationwide—helping people all over the country bring their dream homes to life.
Thank you for considering us as your home builder. We’re honored to be part of your story, and we look forward to crafting a home that’s built strong, designed thoughtfully, and filled with the warmth of the people who live in it.

How We bring your barndo to life
Building a barndominium should feel exciting — not overwhelming.
At 1845, we’ve built a clear, guided process that helps turn ideas into thoughtfully designed homes, without unnecessary guesswork along the way.
Here’s how to begin your journey with confidence:
Start by determining a comfortable budget range for your barndominium.
This is also the right time to connect with your lender to explore pre-approval options for a construction loan.Once land is secured, we help you identify the right floor plan — whether that’s one of our proven designs or a fully custom layout.
Our in-house design team is here to guide you through layout, flow, and functionality so your home fits the way you live.Schedule a conversation with our sales and design team to review your goals, location, and finish preferences.
This step allows us to prepare a detailed, transparent estimate tailored to your build. We refine your plans into preliminary drawings, bringing structure to your vision.
These plans help finalize design decisions and move forward with financing and approvals.Once details are approved and agreements are in place, construction begins.
From that point forward, our team manages the process with clarity, communication, and craftsmanship — all the way to completion.
